This
is so important…
I believe
that once you play here, you’ll become a regular player. As you might imagine, I have personally sacrificed
a great deal by making this facility a reality.
I believe that it is a place that was long overdue…a place that will now
allow ALL of us to play…a place that in one form or another, we have all
desperately missed. I, like all of you, felt
strongly about wanting to play again on an actual court that would do the sport
we all love so dearly, justice. More importantly, I felt strongly about
building a facility that would again bring all of us together…and it goes
farther than that… This great game has
given many of us incredible opportunities and more fantastic experiences than
we can count – the speed, the action, the grace, the power......the camaraderie.
As
you know, it is so difficult to describe this sport to the uninitiated. I firmly believe that we owe a debt of
gratitude to jai-alai, and that one of the best ways to express that
gratitude is to keep the sport alive here in Connecticut. Will this facility
resurrect the sport completely? I don't know but I sleep well at night knowing
that it is a step in the right direction. One thing I do know is that both we
and now, another generation of players will have a chance to again play jai-alai. We will again enjoy this great game in
Connecticut for a long time to come…provided that we support the facility – not to make a profit but simply to keep
our doors open. Again, this facility is
for all of us. I want to aggressively develop new players, and will offer
free lessons for all beginners to that end. How about a place for your kids to play?
I will also have a small 60 ft. court just for beginners.
This
business of jai alai is very unique - it is not like that of a donut shop or a
gym or anything else for that matter. It
is a niche sport and regrettably, the fact is that we are a dedicated minority
of both players and fans in the great state of Connecticut. I
believe that this facility will flourish as we spread the word… It is crucial for each of us to help in this
effort, so that this facility can sustain itself as we again gain momentum. In time, there will be new players developed -
both interest and curiosity will increase as we move forward. I am determined to make this happen. I truly believe that when you see and
play at this facility, you will be quite impressed and will happily become
a member of this jai-alai family. Tournaments, leagues
and more…exciting things lay ahead for all of us. As we progress, more features, services, and
improvements will be made. I feel that
those of us who have played and benefited from this great game should
feel an obligation to help keep it alive…and now you can. All you have to do is play here and have fun!
We’re all incredibly excited to bring this facility to you.
PLEASE ........for the love of the game......support the court!!!
